New preface by Delarivier Manley after her reconcilliation with the "Gentleman, Scholar and Patriot" Richard Steele with a hint at the qualities of the book offering "Wit, Judgement and Capacity" especially to the female audience. The letters following the Lady's journey are filled with anecdotes, stories told by co-passengers and incidents in which the author claims to have been involved. Sketches of places and curious customs are second in place; rare: words on the condition the living conditions in visited regions.
