Shilling, Schilling, Skilling, Solidus, small silver coin in serveral currencies such as the English pound sterling, the Mark (Lübisch), or the Danish and the Dutch currencies – of no standardized value. The latin translation is usually "solidus" French and Italian sols are therefore related coins. The abbreviations differ with the laguages: s is common in English, ß. or ßl. in German documents.
